College Football Playoff Rankings: Alabama new No. 1, M…

After two top-three teams and a number of top 25 teams lost last week, the third edition of this season’s College Football Playoff Rankings was bound to see some legitimate shakeups.

Alabama is the new No. 1 team in the nation, while one-loss Clemson edged undefeated ACC rival Miami for the No. 2 spot. Oklahoma checked in with the final playoff spot, while undefeated Wisconsin and two-loss Auburn — which will face Alabama in the Iron Bowl two weeks from now — round out the top six.

Georgia can likely play its way into the playoff by winning out — including against either the Crimson Tide or Tigers in the SEC Championship Game — while Notre Dame and Ohio State stand as the second and third two-loss teams with an opportunity to fight their way in if chaos ensues. UCF at No. 15 also stands as the highest-rated Group of Five team in CFP Rankings history.

Take a look at the new rankings below. CBS Sports will update this story shortly with analysis from bowls expert Jerry Palm.
