Dolphins rookie LB Raekwon McMillan leaves preseason op…

Raekwon McMillan, a Miami Dolphins rookie projected to start at middle linebacker, left the team’s preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons with a knee injury.

Drafted in the second round out of Ohio State, McMillan never got the chance to line up on defense after suffering the injury on punt coverage in the opening minutes of the first quarter after the Dolphins went three-and-out on their first drive. He walked off the field under his own power and was taken to the locker room.

McMillan, who ran a dynamic 4.61 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, had impressed coaches in camp and is currently listed as the team’s starting linebacker on the depth chart. His return is questionable.

Defensive back Walt Aikens also suffered an apparent back injury (believed to be in warm-ups) Thursday night and has been ruled out.
