Three people have died and schoolchildren have been injured in a shooting in northern California, US authorities have said.
A number of students are reported to have been hurt at a primary school in Rancho Tehama Reserve, about 130 miles north of Sacramento.
The attacker was killed by police.
Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston said officers were investigating at least five crime scenes in the area.
Jeanine Quist, an admin assistant with the Corning Union Elementary School District, said no one was killed at the school but a “number” of students were shot and wounded.
Mr Johnston said police were alerted to the shooting at around 8am local time (4pm GMT).
Multiple shots were fired at the school and he was aware of at least three people killed, he added.
“I’m told the suspected shooter was deceased by law enforcement bullets,” Mr Johnston said.
It was not clear if the attacker was included in the death toll.
